Fulfilment by Amazon Launches for Australian Businesses

This week, thousands of businesses registered to sell on Amazon’s Australian Marketplace will be able to access Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA).

Businesses send the products they wish to ship through FBA to Amazon’s fulfilment centre, and when a customer places an order Amazon will pick, pack and ship the product on behalf of the business. This saves valuable time and money for businesses as they will no longer need to individually purchase shipping materials, individually pack orders, and make multiple trips to the post office.

FBA gives customers access to items sold by Marketplace sellers with the benefit of Amazon delivery. This means that customers can enjoy free delivery on eligible orders above $49, and other shipping options including a one-day expedited delivery service available in select areas across Australia. With Prime set to launch in mid-2018 all FBA orders will also be eligible for the Prime shipping benefits.

FBA enables sellers to save time and money, and grow with the following benefits:

  • Seamless experience for their customers—FBA handles picking, packing, shipping, customer service, and returns.
  • Potential for growth—There is no minimum number of units a business must send to a fulfilment centre to participate in FBA. Amazon handles the logistics and fulfilment to save sellers time, so they can focus on their business.
  • Pay as you go—Sellers are charged for the storage space and the orders Amazon fulfils. The cost of shipping is included in fees.

In 2017, more than 140,000 small and medium-sized businesses surpassed $100,000 in sales on Amazon  and they have created hundreds of thousands of new jobs worldwide. Globally, approximately 50 per cent of Amazon’s total units sold come from Marketplace sellers.  FBA is already used by businesses around the world, giving them access to Amazon’s world-class fulfilment and customer service expertise. In 2017, FBA shipped billions of items to customers on behalf of businesses across the world

For a limited time Amazon is running an introductory promotion giving sellers access to free storage and removals when enabled in March, until 31 August 2018 (volume limits and other conditions apply).  Sellers can contact us to find out more about selling on Amazon and FBA here: http://amazon.com.au/sell.
