New workplace laws – psychosocial risks

In August, we prepared an update on the new model Code of Practice: Managing psychosocial hazards at work, and explained why retailers should take note of the new Code. Since this update, NSW and QLD have introduced new workplace laws detailing employer duties to identify, prevent, and manage psychosocial risks. Similar laws are pending in VIC and are due to commence in early 2023.

Robust retail sales leading into Christmas

Retail sales continued to strengthen in September, with $35.1 billion spent in stores and online – an increase of 17.9% on a year ago and up 0.6% compared to the previous month according to figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
